Acid Reflux:

Acid reflux, or heartburn, is a common symptom. Studies suggest that 50% of the population suffer at some time.

Most people have indigestion at some time. It is generally short lived and has an obvious cause.
For a proportion of the population it is not an occasional nuisance but a condition which controls and ruins their life.

The amount of acid reflux is not necessarily proportional to the symptoms and often the patients with the greatest damage have the least symptoms

New symptoms or regular use of antacid medications should prompt a discussion with your GP for investigation.
